What a day!
Well, I think today would have to go down as one of the most challenging I have had in a while
It all started off so well. Woke up early and did my half hour exercises and weights. The day was feeling good. I had a good feeling about it. So I then made my lovely healthy lunch (since I am far to fat at the moment and really want to shift a few of those pesky pounds). All is good. The salad is made (and it looks lovely), the fruit salad looks awesome. Time for a shower and a shave. Excellent. Out the door at 7:23, a bit late, but no matter. Hop in the car and I am on my way. Even merging onto the Gateway toll plaza at Kuraby was easy today( usually a dangerous experience as you shoot across 3 lanes of traffic to get to the e-toll - a rant for another time). Awesome. The sun is shining, the birds are singing. It is, to be honest, a lovely day.
But you know it is not going to stay that way, don't you? Otherwise there would be no point to this post.
Oh yes, the Gods of All That Can Go Wrong obviously thought that I was being far to chirpy for their liking (or they m,ay have just been bored and I was the poor victim today). Driving along at 100 KM/h, ande I start to hear this godawefull noise. I look in the rear view mirror and see a truck, so I think nothing of it. I keep going. The steering starts to feel a bit funny, and the truck goers past. Hmm. The sound is still there. I wonder if it is me?
So I pull over (thankfully to a large layby) and, yup, a flat tyre. In the 10 years that I have owned this car, this is the first flat tyre. Great. ANd here I am in a nicely ironded white business shirt. (You could see that coming, couldn't you). So I get the spare out (which I had so thoughtfully checked the other week) and change the tyre, all the while feeling the shwoosh of the trucks as they thinder past.
Great, tyre chnaged, in the car and off to work. What's this? The car won't start? Oh bugger. I try everything, Here I am, stuck on the gateway extension just before the Logan road offramp, with the RACQ building on the other side of the gateway *sigh*. How ironic.
So I call them, get told that I have to be towed first, so I wait. And wait. Apparently it is a busy morning. 9:30 and the towie pulls up. Nice chap, courteous etc. He tows me to a service station where a breakdown van pull sup to help me start the car. After much mucking around we get it started. He tells me that I need to get some batteries for the remotes, so Ithank hiome and am on my way/. 10:30 by now, so work is not on fo the day. By the time I would have got there, ti would have been 11:30.
SO I trhen go and do another stupid thing. On the way home, I go to Beurepairs to get the tyre changed. Thankfully I had paid an extra 17 when I go the tyres changed so the tyre (which was totally shagged) was replaced for free. Yay.
BUT
the car won't start. The immobiliser has stuffed up again. *sigh*. Go home, change, ring Hyundai and ask if they know how to disable the immobiliser. I wait half an hour, then they tell me that there is a switch by the accelerator. So I turn the car on and come home. It is now 1 PM, and I am stuffed if I am going to work.
Oh well, it was an eventful day.
